A group that promotes rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) elders is announcing plans for a national strategy to address LGBT elder housing needs this week at an event that will feature a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Services and Advocacy for LGBT Elders (SAGE) is holding a panel discussion and media briefing this week to announce the national strategy, with Jennifer Ho, senior adviser for Housing and Services at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, among those scheduled to participate.

HUD moved several years ago to prevent discrimination in its core programs based on sexual orientation or gender identity and has participated in similar discussions on housing issues related to the elder LGBT community in the past.
