In a new television ad, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida says President Obama has been “humiliated” by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iran and “Islamic jihadists” and laments people with “traditional values” being branded “bigots and haters.”
“This election is about the essence of America. About all of us who feel out of place in our own country,” Mr. Rubio, a 2016 GOP presidential candidate, says in the 30-second spot to start airing Tuesday in Iowa and New Hampshire.
“A government incredibly out of touch and millions with traditional values branded bigots and haters,” Mr. Rubio says. “This is about wages growing slower than the cost of living. A generation drowning in debt, and a president humiliated by Putin, Iran, and Islamic jihadists.”
Mr. Rubio has been rising in some of the recent polling on the 2016 GOP field ahead of Tuesday’s debate in Las Vegas. He’s in second place behind businessman Donald Trump in the latest Real Clear Politics average on New Hampshire and in third behind Mr. Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas in the latest RCP national average.
