Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said Friday that former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s linking Republicans’ views on women to those of terrorist groups this week reveals a “desperate” and “panicked” Democratic presidential candidate.
“She’s desperate. She’s panicked. Her campaign is in a bad shape,” Mr. Rubio said Friday on “Fox and Friends.”
“Her views are the ones that are radical,” he said. “Here’s what’s most offensive about it: They won’t call terrorists ’terrorists,’ going all the way back to Benghazi, and even before that, but they call their political opponents terrorists.”
Mr. Rubio was one of the 2016 GOP presidential candidates Mrs. Clinton had called out by name on the issue while she was campaigning in Ohio Thursday.
“Extreme views about women, we expect that from some of the terrorist groups. We expect that from people who don’t want to live in the modern world. But it’s a little hard to take comin’ from Republicans who want to be the president of the United States,” Mrs. Clinton said.
On Friday, Mr. Rubio predicted “a lot more of this in the weeks to come. They’re in a lot of trouble, it’s been well documented. Maybe even criminal charges are around the corner.”
“She’s been exposed as being incompetent and, of course, deceitful on the handling of the emails and so forth,” he said.
