Joan Rivers’ New York clinic under investigation

The New York clinic where Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest — the event that precipitated her emergency transfer to a nearby hospital and subsequent coma and death — is now under investigation, the State Health Department said.

At the same time, the Yorkville Endoscopy Center in New York City isn’t suspected of any wrongdoing, ABC News reported. The investigation is more routine in nature and due to the complication that Ms. Rivers suffered during the outpatient procedure, one source said to the news outlet.

Yorkville Endoscopy was established in 2013, and so far, there haven’t been any complaints of violations, ABC News reported.

Mr. Rivers was transported from the clinic to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan on Aug. 28 after experiencing a cardia arrest at the clinic. She died Thursday at the age of 81.
