Actress Lena Dunham, creator and star of HBO’s “Girls,” warned her fans in an email that they need to be careful who they vote for this November — certain Republicans seeking Senate seats could damage their sex lives.

She spoke of Rep. Cory Gardner from Colorado, House Speaker Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Dan Sullivan of Alaska and Joni Ernst of Iowa — all seeking Senate seats — and said in an email to Planned Parenthood Action Fund supporters: “I vote because the number of backwards, out-of-touch, downright freaking unbelievably women’s health politicians out there right now makes my blood boil,” The Hill reported.

She issued a stern warning of the power of these candidates to damage Americans’ sex lives if elected.

“The crazy and depressing truth is that there are people running for office right now who could actually affect your life,” Ms. Dunham wrote, The Hill reported. “PARTICULARLY your sex life. PARTICULARLY if you’re a woman.”

The email referenced the Hobby Lobby decision and the candidates’ support for the Supreme Court’s ruling, The Hill reported.

Ms. Dunham isn’t a newcomer to the political scene. In 2012, she cut a television commercial for President Obama in which she referred to her vote for him as “my first time.”

She said in the ad: “The first time shouldn’t be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy. Someone who really cares about and understands women.”
