Two women were killed and 47 others injured when the tour bus they were riding in capsized on a Delaware road while returning from a sightseeing trip to the nation’s capital.
The accident didn’t involved any other vehicles, police said, Fox News reported. It occurred in the northern part of Delaware, just outside of Wilmington on State Route 1.
Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack said the bus had just entered a curve when it slid off the road and overturned on to its roof, ultimately coming to rest on its left side at the bottom of a grassy embankment, Fox News reported.
The two killed were Hua’y Chen, 54, of New York City, and Idil Bahsi, 30, of Istanbul. The other 47 passengers were sent to the hospital for treatment of various injuries, the media outlet reported.
The bus driver, Jinli Zhao, 56, was not injured, and police said they were interviewing him for additional details.
“Everyone was in pain and crying out for help,” said Elvis D’cruz, 19, who was driving with his friend when he saw the overturned bus and pulled over to help, The Associated Press reported. “There was not one person without blood on them.”
