Three soldiers serving in the U.S.-led NATO force in Afghanistan were killed by a suicide bomber who attacked their convoy early Tuesday morning.

The nationalities of the service members were not released, but the bombing took place on a road right outside the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The 20 injured included at least five more military members, and several civilians, the newspaper reported. The Afghan interior ministry specified that 13 Afghans were among the injured.

Security forces in full battle gear began administering CPR to victims right after the 8:10 a.m. bombing, The Associated Press reported.

The Taliban took responsibility for the assault, AP said.
