A plane belonging to the Syrian military crashed in the northeastern city of Raqqa, a site held by members of the terror group, Islamic State.
Five airstrikes hit moments before the plane went down, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, The Associated Press reported.
One activist based in Raqqa said Islamic State terrorists fired anti-aircraft artillery at the plane. But he couldn’t say with assurance if the rounds struck the plane and brought it down, AP said.
A family was reportedly killed when the plane crashed into their home, the Observatory said, AP reported.
