In an apparent slip of tongue, House Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn recently suggested that activists use “sexting” as an organizing tool, the Daily Caller reported.
“Use the tools that we have,” Mr. Clyburn, South Carolina Democrat, told a C-SPAN caller asking about mobilizing Americans after the shootings of Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin.
“We’ve got great tools to communicate about everything else. We can, text. … What do we call it? Sexting,” said Mr. Clyburn, 74. “Let’s do some … organizing over the Internet. We’ve got the tools. Let’s use them for a new massive movement that will make sure that we can have in November 2014 the kind of turnout at the polls that we had, uh, in 2012 in November.”
Mr. Clyburn seemed to confuse ordinary “texting” with “sexting” — which involves sending sexually explicit messages or photos with cell phones.
He made the mixup while on C-SPAN during the Labor Day weekend to promote his new memoir.
