Melissa Rivers, the daughter of late comedian Joan Rivers, will sue the doctor targeted in the probe of her mother’s death, a friend confirmed.

Dr. Gwen Korovin performed an unscheduled biopsy on Rivers, something surviving family members suggest could have triggered the 81-year-old’s sudden deterioration, the Daily Mail reported.

Rivers went into cardiac and respiratory arrest Aug. 28 and died a week later.

Dr. Korovin is continuing to treat patients and accept new ones, the newspaper said.

“It’s very difficult to discuss something so unpleasant with her, but she is going to launch a lawsuit,” a friend of Melissa Rivers told the Daily Mail.

But Dr. Korovin’s attorney said the doctor is highly regarded.

“Korovin maintains privileges at one of the city’s most prestigious hospitals. She is respected and admired by her peers in the medical community and she is revered by her patients,” the attorney, Michael Kelton, told the Mail.
