General Motors recalled more than 117,000 cars and trucks in North America, after finding fault with the chassis control module that could lead to sudden and unexpected stalls.
The company said only about 1 percent of the vehicles actually have the problem, the Daily Mail reported. A defect found in some of the models could lead to small metal fragments to short-circuit the vehicle’s control module — tied into the vehicle’s electronics system that guides braking, steering and suspension — and cause sudden stalling.
The company also said it has no evidence the defect’s caused injury or accident, the Daily Mail reported.
But the recall is a blow to GM, which has previously issued recalls for a fatal ignition switch defect that impacted more than a million vehicles.
