Danish lawmakers voted to send jet fighters to join the international coalition that’s battling Islamic State terrorists.
The vote, 94-9 with 76 absentees, adds seven F-16 fighter jets — four operational and three reserve — to the mix of international fighting, The Associated Press reported. Danish lawmakers also gave the OK to send 140 pilots and support staffers for up to a period of 12 months, AP said.
The fighters will be based in Kuwait and are not scheduled to deploy to Syria, AP reported.
Lawmakers also voted to send 120 military trainers to help Iraqi and Kurdish fighters with their ground efforts against Islamic State.
The United States is leading the coalition, which has a wide-ranging mission — from carrying out airstrikes to providing military training and assistance to offering up humanitarian aid.
