A man responding to the emergency transport of an Ebola patient in Dallas is sending shockwaves after a news crew captured him on video helping hazmat-outfitted responders with the procedure — wearing nothing but pants, a buttoned-down shirt and sunglasses.
NBC 5 filmed the transport of Amber Vinson — the second nurse who was just diagnosed with Ebola — from ambulance to stretcher to the stairwell of a jet that was flying her to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital. And assisting with her transport were several hazmat-wearing officials — as well as one plainclothes man holding a yellow envelope.
Viewers demanded to know why he wasn’t donned in protective gear like the others in the group, NBC 5 reported.
Even Ms. Vinson was covered from head to toe, NBC 5 reported. And two of the workers who assisted with her transport wore respirators.
But the plainclothes man, who is unidentified, stood very close to the hazmat wearers — at one point, seeming to take a container out of the hands of one and putting it on the jet steps, and at another, taking a bag from the hands of another, NBC 5 reported.
He ultimately boarded the plane and flew to Atlanta, NBC 5 reported.
