A town in California is a bit on edge about a mysterious clown — or maybe, more than one clown — who’s been wandering around the streets every night for the past couple of weeks.

“Yesterday, they were saying there were two, then they were trying to say like seven, but I don’t know,” Wasco resident Kevin Cabello told KFOR.com.

Either way, Wasco residents have reported several sightings of the “Wasco Clown,” United Press International reported. The first sighting occurred on Oct. 1, and since, he’s been seen every night.

The clown, captured in photographs holding a bunch of balloons, supposedly has a Facebook page to post his past appearances and tell where he’ll show up next, UPI reported. Police said they’ve fielded some reports of crimes being committed by the clown, but have no evidence. One child, meanwhile, claimed the clown chased him with an ax, UPI reported.

Many more residents, however, say the clown is bringing out their Halloween spirit.

“It’s kind of fun … to get us in the Halloween spirit and all of us in the community,” said Noah Sanchez, adding that he and his friends go out at night to look for the clown, UPI reported.
