A D.C.-based firm has reportedly registered Michael Brown, the black teenager shot and killed in August by Ferguson police, as a lobbyist.
As the St. Louis suburb anxiously awaits for a grand jury to decide whether to indict police officer Darren Wilson, a firm called Fighting Apartheid Confrontation Transformation Systems Inc., or FACTS Inc., has listed Brown posthumously as one of its lobbyists in a filing, Capitol City Project reported.
The organization listed Officer Wilson’s possible indictment for “improper procedure on the police force duties/activities” as the central lobbying issue. It also cites an autopsy report that showed Brown “was shot in the hand at close range,” Legistorm reported.
FACTS Inc., led by President Harold Hunter, reportedly plans to lobby the House, Senate, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of Education, Department of Justice, Legal Services Corp., Small Business Administration, Smithsonian Institution, U.S. Copyright Office and the White House.
FACTS had previously listed the late Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd and president of the NAACP as lobbyists on the team, Legistorm reported.
