Why are no journalists pursuing the real possibility that Edward Snowden was “in the tank” with the Russians from the get-go — or at the very least was in cahoots with the Russians prior to his arrival at his Hong Kong safe house? It is difficult for me to believe that Mr. Snowden’s journey from the United States to Moscow didn’t have some prior arrangement.

Since his flight from the United States, Mr. Snowden’s leaking of the National Security Agency domestic-spying program and other embarrassing issues has served to mask the real loss to our country. This loss has been described more than once by former NSA director Gen. Michael V. Hayden as catastrophic. Early on, U.S. intelligence talking heads hinted at some complicity, but they then fell silent.

Evidence of Russia’s improved electronic surveillance and hacking attempts now appear regularly in the news. Has no one thought of Mr. Snowden’s contribution to this? Nobel Prize consideration for Mr. Snowden and Oliver Stone’s proposed cinematic take on the story should be more than any patriot can take.
