WEST BLOCTON, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a man confessed to killing his roommate in Atlanta, then driving nearly 200 miles to dump the body in Alabama.

West Blocton police tell WBRC-TV the badly decomposed body was found Thursday night, behind the old Continental Club in the Alabama town about 40 miles southwest of Birmingham.

District Attorney Michael Jackson identified the victim as Tion Casterman. Jackson says the victim’s roommate confessed to authorities in Louisiana that he killed Casterman in Atlanta and dumped the body in Alabama.

West Blocton Police Chief Keith Whatley says the suspect described the spot where the body was dumped. Police then found the body 25 feet down a ravine around 10 p.m. Thursday.

The Associated Press is not naming the suspect because he has not yet been charged in the death. Prosecutors are still discussing which agency will press charges.
