JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Entergy Mississippi has made a $1 million gift to two Mississippi museum projects.
Entergy Mississippi president/CEO Haley Fisackerly says in a news release the funds will be provided to the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. Both are now under construction near downtown Jackson.
Fisackerly says the money is a 90th birthday gift from Entergy stockholders to customers and communities.
Fisackerly says the museums “will also be an educational gem for children, will create jobs for Mississippians and will have a tremendous economic impact on the Jackson area and across the state.”
The museums will open in 2017 in celebration of Mississippi’s statehood bicentennial.
Entergy Mississippi provides electricity to more than 441,000 customers in 45 counties.
