PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says it’s rescued two people aboard a disabled boat approximately 50 miles southeast of Bald Head Island, North Carolina.

A statement from the Coast Guard said its watchstanders were contacted Wednesday after the 33-foot sport boat Atlanta lost its steering. A motor life boat was dispatched from Coast Guard Station Oak Island, North Carolina, to assist.

The life boat crew reached the Atlanta around 10 p.m. Wednesday and began towing it back to Southport, where it moored at around 11 a.m. Thursday.

No injuries were reported.
