NEW YORK (AP) - A massive swarm of bees has been removed by police in Queens.
Police say they found thousands of bees swarming around 28th Street in Astoria on Wednesday.
They shut down the block while the agency’s on-call beekeeper used a vacuum to suck the bees up into a cage.
A neighbor told WCBS-TV (https://cbsloc.al/1ot5y0V0 ) that police also used a cherry picket to get bees off a tree.
Police say the bees came from a series of rooftop hives installed by a homeowner.
Beekeeping has been legal in New York since 2010.
