John Boehner has won his primary in Ohio (despite my best efforts), so he will be even more emboldened to push the misguided amnesty plans he hinted at recently.
Amnesty, or a special “Pathway To Citizenship” which circumvents the normal immigration process, will not solve the major issues facing our country today, including high unemployment, especially in the African-American community, and dismal youth market; the outrageous and growing problem of under-employment; out-of-control social spending; and the continuing influx of illegal immigrants.
If anything, as we have seen in the past, if we don’t strengthen border security and our laws to make things more difficult for those who flaunt our laws, take jobs and drive down wages, these problems will all become much worse. The future will find us facing the same dilemma we do today, with another call for a massive amnesty program to fix an immigration problem that never went away. Decades ago, Ronald Regan made the same mistake that John Boehner and others in Congress are rushing toward. The outcome this time will be no different.
Recently I attended a conference in Washington, D.C., called “Hold Their Feet to the Fire,” presented by the Federation Of American Immigration Reform. I had an opportunity to interview a number of experts and people who are fighting this battle daily.
To get a better understanding of what we are facing, watch these brief but important interviews, here on the Rusty Humphries Rebellion. Hopefully some of our leaders will choose to do the tough thing and LEAD us down the right path of securing our nation for our posterity, rather than selling us out for a few extra votes, and an extra term or two in Congress.
What do you think is the answer to the illegal immigration problem?
Border security?
Amnesty?
Deportation?
A Pathway to Citizenship?
We want to know your solution, comment at washingtontimes.com and until our next briefing, this is The Rusty Humphries Rebellion.
