JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man has been charged with selling the fentanyl-laced heroin that resulted in two non-fatal overdoses.

Police say 24-year-old Aaron Wade Walters, of Johnstown, was arrested Saturday after two overdose victims who recovered told police in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, that Walters sold them the drugs in question.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Walters, who also doesn’t have a listed home telephone.

Police say the heroin bags were was stamped with an image of a seven of hearts from a playing card. Similarly stamped heroin is believed to be responsible for other overdoses, including some fatalities, in the Johnstown-Somerset area.

Fentanyl is a synthetic painkiller sometimes mixed with heroin. It can cause unexpected overdoses because it can be up to 100 times more potent than heroin.
