DETROIT (AP) - In a story May 25 about two people arrested in a hit-and-run crash in Detroit, The Associated Press, relying on information from the Wayne County prosecutor’s office, misspelled the first name of one suspect. His name is Cortney Shields, not Courtney.
A corrected and updated version of the story is below:
2 charged in hit-run that killed girl
2 charged in hit-run crash in Detroit that killed 8-year-old girl
DETROIT (AP) - Prosecutors have charged two people in a hit-and-run crash in Detroit that killed an 8-year-old girl.
Wayne County prosecutor’s spokeswoman Maria Miller says 23-year-old Cortney Shields is awaiting arraignment on charges of second-degree murder, failure to stop at the scene of an at-fault fatal accident and reckless driving causing death.
Eighteen-year-old Leonard Crosby is jailed on a charge of being an accessory after the fact.
Miller says it’s not clear if the men have lawyers.
Police say the crash happened May 19 on the city’s west side.
