PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have selected the contract of utility player Nick Evans from Triple-A Reno and optioned outfielder Alfredo Marte to the Aces.

The 28-year-old Evans hit .335 with 11 homers and 44 RBIs in 44 games with the Aces this season, ranking among the Pacific Coast League leaders in eight different categories.

The Glendale native will become the eighth Arizona-born player to play for the Diamondbacks when he debuts. He has played 159 games in the majors, hitting .256 with the New York Mets from 2008-11.

Marte hit .227 with three RBIs in 10 games with Arizona this season.
