JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Chip Minemyer is returning as editor of The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat, the job he held from 2004 to 2012 before leaving to become executive editor of the Centre Daily Times in State College.

Tribune-Democrat publisher Robin Quillon (https://bit.ly/1rgcdkh ) announced Minemyer will return as editor on June 23.

Minemyer is replacing Eric Knopsnyder who left the Johnstown paper earlier this month for a job in Hawaii.

Minemyer helped lead the Centre Daily Times’ coverage of the Jerry Sandusky child-sex abuse scandal at Penn State. The State College newspaper won the 2013 Keystone Press Awards “Sweepstakes,” which goes to the top newspaper in its circulation category in Pennsylvania.

Minemyer produced several books from Tribune-Democrat reporting during his first term with the paper, including a 1977 Johnstown flood retrospective and 10th anniversary coverage of the United Flight 93 crash.
