DARIEN CENTER, N.Y. (AP) - Nik Wallenda is back performing in upstate New York.
The seventh-generation daredevil thrilled a crowd Sunday with one of his daring deeds, riding a motorcycle on a wire over the lake at the Genesee County amusement park with two performers riding underneath.
The stunt was performed to help generate interest for Wallenda’s three-month run of performances at Darien Lake. They begin June 24 and run through September 1 at the newly named Nik Wallenda Theater at the complex.
Wallenda is best-known in western New York for his walk over Niagara Falls two years ago that was nationally televised. He says he still loves the area, and there have been discussions about setting up a permanent attraction centered on his tightrope walking performances and stunts at the falls.
