CHICAGO (AP) - Yankees second baseman Brian Roberts is out of the starting lineup against the White Sox after he fouled a pitch off his right knee Friday.

Roberts came up limping after the play in the fourth inning but remained in the game. He went 1 for 4 and scored a run in New York’s 6-5 loss in Chicago.

Manager Joe Girardi says Roberts is sore, but there was no significant swelling. He says Roberts could return to the lineup Sunday.

Brendan Ryan got the start at second for Saturday’s game at Chicago.
