NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Longtime Virginia Wesleyan College President Billy Greer is retiring.

Virginia Wesleyan says Greer announced his retirement Wednesday at the college Board of Trustees’ annual meeting.

Greer has served as president of the private liberal arts college in Norfolk since 1992.

The college says in a news release that Greer’s retirement is effective June 30.

Board of Trustees chairman Gary Bonnewell says a national search will be conducted for the college’s next president.

The college says it has expanded enrollment and implemented a new curriculum during Greer’s 22-year tenure. Other accomplishments include the most successful fundraising campaign in the college’s history and construction and renovation of facilities.
