DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A Davenport man has been accused of posing as an area television meteorologist to meet women online.

Records show 24-year-old Matt Wendt was arrested May 9 and charged with two aggravated misdemeanor counts of identity theft. Court records do not list an attorney.

Wendt is accused of impersonating Greg Dutra, a meteorologist for KWQC-TV in Davenport, on social media accounts. Dutra says he was contacted by a woman who claimed she and Dultra had communicated through several messages online.

Dutra contacted authorities. The messages were traced back to Wendt’s home and work computers through IP addresses.
