LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Center for Arkansas History and Culture has been awarded a grant of nearly $140,000 to curate the papers of former Gov. Jim Guy Tucker.
The funding represents the largest National Historical Publications and Records Commission award in the state. The commission is part of the National Archives and Records Administration.
Tucker’s collection spans 746 cubic feet of materials - including letters, legislative documents, legal papers, campaign materials and photographs. Tucker, who served as the 43rd governor of Arkansas, donated the papers to the center.
The collection documents Tucker’s service as a war correspondent in Vietnam and his long political career, among other key events in his life.
