MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton will speak at the University of Minnesota next month.

Clinton will speak about the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

He’s scheduled to appear June 9 at Northrop Auditorium. The speech is part of the Humphrey School of Public Affairs’ yearlong series of events commemorating the anniversary.

While at the university, Clinton will accept of the Dean’s Award for Public Leadership. The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1ji3okj) reports the awards honor individuals who have contributed to the common good through leadership and service.

Organizers say proceeds from ticket sales will support public affairs student scholarships designed to promote diversity in the spirit of the Civil Rights Act.
