NEW YORK (AP) - Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says those unhappy with the admission charge at the National Sept. 11 Memorial Museum should call their elected officials.
The museum will cost $24 but is free to rescue workers and relatives of those killed in the terror attacks.
Bloomberg is chairman of museum, which was dedicated Thursday in a ceremony attended by President Barack Obama.
Bloomberg said in an interview Friday with New York’s Fox affiliate that the museum tried unsuccessfully to obtain federal money to help defray costs. He urged people to contact Congress to complain.
He also defended the decision to house unidentified victims’ remains in the museum structure.
Bloomberg, an independent, also said he won’t run for president. He says there is “no room” for a third-party candidate.
