Officials at National Guard headquarters in suburban Albany say more than 100 Soldiers in the 1569th Transportation Co. left Fort Hood in Texas on Tuesday for their deployment in Afghanistan.

The company specializes in moving supplies. It’s based at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in the Orange County town of New Windsor, near West Point, New York.

The soldiers had been training at Fort Hood since they went on active duty on March 9. The unit is expected to be in Afghanistan for 10 months.
