BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles Police say that a rookie officer whose patrol car collided with a big rig in Beverly Hills is in stable condition.

The officer, whose name has not been released, was undergoing tests Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Her partner was killed Friday when their cruiser collided with a truck hauling a trash container down a steep road.

Los Angeles police spokeswoman Sally Madera says the rookie officer spoke with a colleague Saturday. While she appreciates the condolences and concern, she wants support directed to the family of her dead partner.

Officer Nicholas Choung Lee’s patrol car was practically demolished in the crash.

The 16-year veteran of the force left behind a wife and two young daughters.
