FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A former First Minister of Scotland and member of Parliament in the United Kingdom is giving a speech next week at the University of Arkansas about the role of learning in modern society.

The Right Honorable Henry McLeish’s March 11 speech will make comparisons between the U.S. and countries in the European Union.

McLeish is the visiting professor of European Union Law, Commerce and Education at the University of Arkansas. He first came to the university in 2004 as a visiting professor and has visited campus several times since then.

The speech is free and open to the public. It will take place in the Global Campus auditorium.
