NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) - The Natchitoches Parish School Board says 13 people have applied to be the parish’s next school superintendent.

Board member George Rhymes tells The Town Talk (https://townta.lk/1dI0SU1 ) the board is checking on their certification or potential for immediate certification.

Superintendent Derwood Duke has said he will resign April 30. He’s been superintendent since 2009.

Interviews to determine finalists begin April 8.

Rhymes says the board has not decided how many finalists to name.
