BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The bus drivers’ strike in Vermont’s largest county is continuing after another meeting between the union and bus company failed to reach a solution that would end the nearly two-week strike.
Chittenden County Transportation Authority said Saturday that the two sides met for 17 hours on Friday with a federal mediator and made progress on some issues. It says it hopes the union will bring CCTA’s compromise proposals to a vote.
Unionized bus drivers have been on strike since March 17. The strike has hit students, immigrants and low-income Vermonters hard.
The two sides are haggling over wages, disciplinary action from anonymous tips, part-time drivers and split shifts.
