ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico’s unemployment rate rose to 6.7 percent last month, up from 6.6 percent in January.

The state Workforce Solutions Department said Friday that the unemployment rate in February was down from 6.9 percent a year ago.

The state agency says jobs have shrunk by 0.2 percent since February 2013, a loss of 1,900 jobs.

State officials say six industries added jobs, six lost employment and one remain unchanged.

The largest employment gains were reported in the financial activities industry, which added 1,800 jobs since February 2013.

The mining industry gained 1,400 jobs and retail trade added 1,000 jobs since last year.

Government employment reported the largest jobs decrease at 2,300 jobs since February 2013 while manufacturing declined by 2,000 jobs. The professional and business services industry lost 1,900 jobs.
