CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - The leader of Rhode Island’s prison system has called in state police to investigate possible criminal acts by Department of Corrections employees.

Corrections Director A.T. Wall says he recently learned from prison internal affairs investigators that some employees may have engaged in criminal acts. He would not release details of the allegations.

Internal affairs investigators have been looking into reports that a seance was held in a prison official’s office. Authorities didn’t say whether the state police investigation is related to that internal probe.

Wall announced last week that he placed four employees on administrative leave amid an investigation of what he said were allegations of unprofessional conduct.
