DOVER, Del. (AP) - Republican lawmakers have introduced a series of bills aimed at strengthening Delaware’s campaign finance laws in response to recent investigations of improper contributions to Democratic Gov. Jack Markell and other elected officials.

Among the bills introduced this week is a measure clarifying how joint contributions to a political committee by more than person are attributed. Another bill extends whistleblower protection to employees who report campaign finance violations by their employers.

A third measure requires political committees in Delaware to report contributors’ occupation and employment information, as federal campaign finance law requires.

Republicans also have introduced a resolution establishing a bipartisan committee of Delaware attorneys to review state campaign finance laws and submit proposed revisions by the end of the year.
