NAPERVILLE, Ill. (AP) - An administrative law judge has dismissed a police union’s charge of unfair labor practices against the city of Naperville, Ill.
City officials say the Naperville Fraternal Order of Police alleged that the city had not bargained in good faith and its November 2010 layoff of six officers was in retaliation for the union’s request for interest arbitration.
The Illinois Labor Relations Board conducted a three-day evidentiary hearing in 2011. City officials say the administrative law judge released a 29-page opinion this week that dismissed the union’s charges.
City officials say the six laid-off officers were returned to work within six months as other officers retired.
City Manager Doug Krieger says the city and police union have worked to forge a positive relationship.
