DENVER (AP) - Senator Mark Udall’s re-election campaign says it underpaid the state to cover unemployment insurance for its employees.

The campaign was alerted to the $458 underpayment when the state filed a lien against it in February. The campaign says it paid the balance six days later and the lien was lifted.

The missed payment was discovered by the conservative political blog Colorado Peak Politics on Thursday.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee mocked Udall for the missed payment because the Senator has strongly supported extending unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless.
