CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose slightly to 6 percent in February.
WorkForce West Virginia says the number of unemployed residents rose 500 in January to 47,700.
In the goods-producing sector, employment losses were seen in construction, mining and logging, while the state experienced job gains in manufacturing.
In the service sector, employment gains were seen in trade, transportation and utilities, financial activities, professional and business services and educational and health services, government and other services. There were declines in information, and leisure and hospitalities.
The national unemployment rate increased to 6.7 percent in February from 6.6 percent in January.
