GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Washington County employees who make less than $10.10 an hour will soon receive pay increases.

The Delta Democrat Times reports (https://bit.ly/1l0QBoi ) that the increase will take effect immediately.

Supervisor Troy Wesley says currently, fewer than 15 county employees earn less than $10 an hour.

Wesley says most of those employees are making close to $10.10, so it wouldn’t cost the county much to increase pay for those below that threshold.

The board of supervisors also agreed to pay new minimum-wage hires $10.10 an hour.

The motion passed unanimously.
