Longshore union endorses Abercrombie for governor

HONOLULU (AP) - A union for longshore and warehouse workers is endorsing Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s bid for a second term.

Abercrombie’s campaign says its approval from the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 142 represents the biggest union endorsement so far in the campaign.

Abercrombie is running against state Sen. David Ige in a Democratic primary.

Union President Donna Domingo says Abercrombie understands the role the union plays in industries including tourism, agriculture and shipping.
