CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Department of Corrections Director A.T. Wall says he has placed four employees on administrative leave amid an ongoing probe into what he says are allegations of unprofessional conduct.

Wall made the announcement in a written statement on Tuesday, a day after WJAR-TV first reported on the investigation.

He was not specific about the allegations, and did not identify the workers. A spokeswoman for the Department of Corrections also would not elaborate on the allegations.

Wall says the matter has become a distraction to the agency.
