MADISON, Wis. (AP) - About 100 artists are expected to gather this week for a body art festival in Madison.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1cPN8G8 ) the Greater Midwest Body Art Fest runs Wednesday through Saturday.
Workshops range from creating flamboyant, Mardi Gras-type headdresses to crafting custom teeth for a latex-embellished model. The festival will also include “body art jams,” with artists painting models freestyle, as well as a modeling competition and runway show.
Models wear the minimum until their skin is completely covered. Body painters use specially formulated cosmetics to create their illusions.
Michelle Soltis and Dawn Marie Svanoe started the event this year. The two are professional body painters and own Madison-based Glitter to Gore, which sells specialty makeup.
The event is expected to draw about 500 people.
