LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - McColl Simmons made two free throws with 31 seconds left for the go-ahead points, as Country Day topped Madison Prep 50-47 on Saturday in the Class 1A state championship game.

J.C. Younger added a free throw with 13 seconds left to seal the win.

Madison Prep missed a 3-pointer on its final possession. Josh Anderson made one in the final minute to tie the game at 47 before the Simmons free throws gave the Cajuns the lead for good.

Country Day (25-7) repeated as champs. Madison Prep (25-9) won the Class B championship last year.

Michael Corchiani scored 14 to lead Country Day. Younger added 13.

Brandon Sampson led Madison Prep with 16 points. Country Day led by six points at the end of the first quarter after making 8 of 11 field goal attempts, but was held to four points in the second on 1 of 8 shooting.
