SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - Winner scored the first six points of overtime en route to a 52-46 win over Mount Vernon-Plankinton in the first round of the South Dakota Class A girls basketball tournament Thursday night.
Winner’s last-second shot in regulation bounded off the rim, leaving the teams tied at 44. But in overtime, the Warriors (22-1) scored the first six points and outscored the Titans 8-2.
Mount Vernon-Plankinton (18-6) was 0 of 6 from the free-throw line in overtime and went 7 for 17 for the game.
Kennede Mathis had 14 points and Kelsey Bertram added 10 for Winner.
Becca Glanzer was 5 of 7 from 3-point range for 19 points to lead Mount Vernon-Plankinton. Payleen O’Day added 11.
