CINCINNATI (AP) - The Cincinnati Bengals say they have extended coach Marvin Lewis’ contract by one year, through the 2015 season.
This will be the 12th season in Cincinnati for Lewis, already the longest-tenured Bengals head coach and leader in career victories with 90.
The Bengals said Lewis signed the extension on Friday. His contract had been due to expire after the upcoming season.
The Bengals won the AFC North last year with an 11-5 record. However, a loss at home to San Diego left Lewis with a 0-5 postseason record. His regular season record is 90-85-1.
Lewis had to make some changes in his coaching staff this season. Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden left to become head coach in Washington, while defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer became head coach in Minnesota.
